A transnational collaboration on colonial history, agency and the
interdependence of all beings

The sounds of the installation consist of different layers - similar to the
storey structure of the rain forests, home of the African violet.
Coming from above, a continuous rhythm flows through the room, which was created
from different contacts and ways of touching the plant. At the level of the plant,
speakers close to the ground play the sounds of situations and objects the African
violet encountered on its journeys. These sounds communicate with each other in a
random structure and are connected - referring to the color of the plant - by the
acoustic phenomenon of violet noise. Additionally, in headphones the objects
tell stories about their individual encounters with the plant.
